About Jehovah

It appears that the group known as Jehovah’s witnesses did get one thing right. Either the translators or the editors of the Bible replaced the name of our God with titles of their choosing.

Why in the world did they remove God’s name: ie Yehovah or Jehovah with the word title of LORD? God the Father made known that His name was Yehovah in the Hebrew text, translated to Jehovah in the English text.

I wonder if the deceiver who we call satan had anything to do with this.

I believe that where the words LORD God appear in the scripture it should be either Yehovah elohiym or Jehovah of the Gods.

Interesting enough, if you watch the dvd titled “Breathe” #14 in the NOOMA series by Rob Bell, it states than anywhere you see the word LORD written like that, it wasn’t meant to be a spoken word. But rather a very life “breathe”. Since the Bible is the infallible Word of God, I don’t believe it could have been mistranslated; perhaps it was given to us this way to make us dig deeper into the meanings of every single word. I know that God had sooooooo many different names and however it was written in the Hebrew or Greek each particular time was translated as closely as possible in English terms. Definitely one of them is Jehovah. I don’t claim to understand it all, but I’m sure it wasn’t a mistake.

Thank you Heather for responding to my post.

I do shout from the rooftop THANK GOD FOR THE BIBLE for it is the most amazing book that was ever written. And THANK GOD for the Authorized King James version, for it is the most accurate Bible available because of being a word for word translation.

From an early age in my life, I was taught and I believed that the Bible was the inerrant, infallible Word of God. Then instead of just reading it, I began to study, comparing the English translation to the original languages.

I believe it is more accurate to say that the Bible contains the Word of God, instead of it being the Word of God.

If interested, I believe that the explanation in the book “The Revelation of the Truth of God’s Word” about why the Bible is not the inerrant Word of God would be worth reading.

    Respectfully submitted

My brother-in-law just did a sermon on how much interpretation goes on in the Bible. The verse he used was in Jeremiah and by taking the original Hebrew, which is a simple language (meaning that they have many words that mean many different things), the meaning of the verse can change so much.

I think it is irresponsible for us to take such a hard stance of the Bible’s many translations (who were translated and paraphrased by men) when examples this blatant exist. A great book that gives a overview of the Journey that the Bible has taken, is “The Journey From Text to Translations
