A Look Back at Obama's First 100 Days

By

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama marked his 100th day in office. Focus on the Family Action has analyzed his decisions and policies thus far, as they relate to the family.

In his first 100 days, Obama has:

• Signed an executive order allowing taxpayer funding to go to international groups that promote or provide abortions. The “Mexico City Policy,” as it’s known, also was rescinded by President Bill Clinton and then reinstated by President George W. Bush.

• Opened the door for more human embryos to be destroyed for unethical stem-cell research despite science showing that adult stem cells provide cures; to date, embryonic stem cells have not.

• Begun the process of rescinding the Bush health care provider conscience regulations. This move comes at a time when the U.S. is experiencing a shortage of practicing physicians, a drop one senator described as reaching “crisis proportions.” Making it easier for hospitals and medical schools to discriminate against physicians based on their moral or religious beliefs will only drive more of them out of the profession.

• Lifted a seven-year ban on taxpayer funding of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which is linked to forced abortion programs.

• Nominated Hillary Clinton as secretary of State. Clinton is an ardent pro-abortion politician who recently accepted Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger award. During her acceptance speech, Clinton praised the eugenicist Sanger as a great American.

• Nominated Kathleen Sebelius as secretary of Health and Human Services. She has accepted campaign contributions from notorious late-term abortionist George Tiller and welcomed him into the governor’s mansion. Sebelius is one of the most pro-abortion governors in the country.

•Nominated Dawn Johnsen, former legal director of NARAL Pro-Choice America, to head the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice. Johnsen has called motherhood “involuntary servitude” and has said that restrictions on abortion make women nothing more than “fetal containers.”

• Attacked charitable giving by proposing a reduced tax deduction for gifts to nonprofits. If it becomes law, it will have a major impact on faith-based ministry giving and other nonprofits.

• Signed a bill that kills the District of Columbia’s successful school-choice program. The program benefits low-income families by providing private-school scholarships. Approximately 3,500 students have benefited from this program.

• Nominated David Hamilton to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Hamilton has been a board member for the ACLU and a fundraiser for ACORN. He has ordered the Indiana legislature to end its historic practice of beginning each session with a prayer, and has written an opinion in opposition to abortion clinics providing information to women about alternatives.

• Appointed Ellen Moran to a major communications post at the White House. Moran is the former executive director of the pro-abortion EMILY’s List.

• Nominated David Ogden, Tom Perrelli, Elena Kagan and Harold Koh to top Department of Justice and State Department posts. Ogden has been a legal advocate for pornography producers; Perelli helped lead the legal fight to remove the feeding tube from Terri Schiavo; Kagan supported denying military recruiters access to law schools; and Koh strongly advocates mixing foreign law into important U.S. constitutional debates.

• Expressed support for hate-crimes legislation and will sign if it reaches his desk. The House will vote on the measure April 29. The legislation creates a special class of crime based on the victim’s sexual orientation. Those accused of “inducing” a federal hate crime could be held responsible for the actions of another person. For example, pastors preaching against homosexuality could be charged with a crime if someone listening committed a “hate crime” against a gay individual.

• Ordered a legal review of hiring-and-firing standards instituted by faith-based groups that receive federal funding.

• Released a Department of Homeland Security “watch list” that included pro-life Americans.

Jim Daly, president and CEO of Focus on the Family Action, said: “Focus often gets vilified for our public policy positions, but fundamentally, what Focus on the Family is about is seeing more families like Barack Obama’s in America — a man and a woman committed to their marriage and to each other, raising their kids.

“When we have 40 percent of babies born in ’07 to unwed moms, that’s a problem for our country,” he said. “Everybody should be alarmed by that. And I think his first 100 days — we’ll let the historians talk about it.

“What I’m all about is marriage and parenting, and I would hope he would do more to protect families in this country.”

This such a comprehensive ‘not to do list’ for President Obama and it’s very well written, very persuasive and very good litery peice. But I must ask who or where is the hub or scepter of our morality?

To what or who or whoms’ to do we compare wrong thing to right thing. And certainly the Pharisees had the same idea. They caught a woman in the very act of adultery and they brought her to Jesus to see what he

would say about her comdenation. I’m sure you know the story, Jesus said whom he that is without sin cast the first stone! And Jesus wrote something on the ground.

Perhaps he was writtin his own outline to write on his own blog- the bible. And they all left one by one. And he said to the woman, “Woman, where are your accusers?” And she said,” I have none”

and neither do I accuse you, but leave you life of sin. And I think everyone has to leave their life of sin, and not just public figures. We have to look as ourselves if we in our own house have left our life

of sin. May you have a good day. Amen.

Quietpond, our rulers set the pace for our society. Our youth look to them as leaders, as heroes, as someone they want to be like when they grow up. That is why it is important for us to elect Godly leaders, that follow the Lord, in a world that will not. Nothing more, nothing less.

Do you all remember when Bill Clinton was President and the debate was, “Do we really need a moral leader?” This topic kind of reminds me of that…

  • http://www.christianbooksbibles.com Heather

Yeah we sure didn’t get it then either, did we? lol

  • Quietpond

Heather, I admire your stance on morality and even virtue, but I must ask what step would you if you could, what time-table of stragegy would you take to find a man in the world that you would consider a

role model for being maybe a president of a leader of some sort? Bible cleary states that nobody seeks after God and everyone turns his own way.

If I may, what is your checklist for moral imperatives for leader, such as a President to follow? I don’t know if you would like to entertain the answer to those questions, but ask in good faith.

Well the first and most important would be somebody who values the most important thing that GOD created. Life.

  • Quietpond

Well let me tell you God Jesus is with you. Why do you think God says that the wages of sin is death and eternal banishment. I admire you effort to speak out for the unborn. I really want to tell you this.

I would hope there would be more youngster who think like you do. But suppose God was to grant you your request for moral leader who really has a head on his shoulders and really put his foot down on abortion.

But I must say there’s no morality or virtue with discipline. And suppose this new leader really likes the bible and the old testament and he or she passes a law to put capital punishment on abortion offenders.

And 10 year of hard labor in prison for smoking marijuana and force marriage for promiscious sex offenders. Now this new moral leader really hates sin and is willing to banish to hell those who break the

law. What is you scenario for the youth under that regime or godly nation. Would the youth have the teachable heart that would make them obey this new moral leader who is serious and cares for the unborn?

Now God already tried that with the nation of Israel, they hated his ideas so much that they hanged and all the prophets God sent to admonish them to follow his laws or else.

And later when he appeared personally, the killed him on a cross and would not have him as king. Now God has already tried peaceful social reform but the people would not have it.

And the question is the society you envision ready to pay the penalty for breaking the moral laws of the new moral leader you envision who will certainly will not take flack from anyone who wants to do their

own thing? Have we counted the cost? Do we think God has not never had a vision for a moral and virtuous society? If you want amenities for moral value, you have to have laws and have to pay the stiff

penalty. Man is unable to do good out of the goodness of what he does
not have in his heart. May you be blessed. Amen.

Well I wouldn’t ever envision such a wild idea in this day and age so this line of questioning is moot. All I want is a prez who at least acts like he cares about Godly things.

  • Quietpond

Your would like a ‘prez’ who would act like he cares about Godly things. Our president is moral and virtuous man like we’ve said before and guide his family in those virtuous ethics we all like.

But he is also is a president who knows what wouldn’t work in our society, a society that does not want to obey God, why do you think anyone would would want to obey him?

If people don’t want to obey God who altogether glorious, kind, merciful and compassionate, why do you think anyone would want to put their trust in a fragile human, only doing what is humanly possible?

I can see who you voted for and that’s okay. It is your right as a red blooded American. I can see this is a hot topic for you and do not want to offend. And I will also pray for my president every day just as I and every Christian American should. But a man that does this much to further the abortion agenda in his first 100 days of office would not be called “moral” or “virtuous” by anyone’s standards. Let it rest, Quietpond. On this issue, it’s time to be quiet.

    God bless,

Hi Rufor, introduce yourself! Let us hear what the Lord is doing in your life too! :)

IMO and as far as I understand it, the Lord sets the standard for the Christian. Period. His word must come first in our lives.
A leader (like the president) sets the standard for whatever dept. or org. they rule over.

I am saddened the Obama is taking our country down such an ungodly path. He is false prophet as far as I can see.
He claims to be a christian, but doesn’t the Bible teach us that we are known by our works?
Obama’s works speak loud & clear to me.
I pray for him. I pray for his salvation! I pray for his safety & I pray for his wisdom. I pray Christians will not follow blindly & I pray people will stop calling him the messiah!!!

I understand our leaders can’t always follow after their christian beliefs when they are in office. But Obama hasn’t even tried. Each time he goes to the mat he seems to be fighting for the other team.
