Mission Trip Miracles

One experience that I never got to encounter, was a mission trip when I was in high school or college.  All throughout my life, I have heard of the amazing power of youth group mission trips and the evangelism that takes place.  Although I traveled overseas with my Christian high school to South America (Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina), the focus of this trip was more culturally based.  Missions is an integral part of the Christian Faith

Despite this, all of those around me have had amazing experiences on trips like this.  All of my siblings have been on several mission trips.  In addition, my sister’s husband actually grew up in Africa as a Missionary Kid.  If you want to hear some amazing stories, talk to him.  Throughout his life as MK, youth pastor, and pastor, he has had some amazing experiences throughout the world when he was evangelising through mission trips.

Just one of his stories involves being in Central America and a man came up to him with an arched spine and walked hunched over.  Karl (by brother-in-law) got an urge to pray for him so the mission team he was with circled this guy and Karl layed his hand on the guy’s back.  During the prayer, HE ACTUALLY FELT THE GUYS SPINE STRAIGHTENING OUT, and by the end of the prayer, he could stand up straight…seriously, who said modern day miracles were dead?

He has so many more stories like this.  One involves an assult rifle firing blanks at him and his brother’s family, but when they got the gun away from him (which is a completely different story :) ), they opened the gun’s chamber and it was completely full with live rounds, along with a live round in the chamber.

Mission Trips are not always easy.  It takes a lot of preperation.  Youth and Adult Bible studies can be incredibly useful.  Christian resources like evangelism curriculum kits can help.  There are a lot of resources for your evangelism needs.  Whether you are simply promoting Church evangelism, or you are going on an overseas mission trip, there are a lot of options.  Some of my favorites for personal evangelism include “Just Walk Across The Room” and “Becoming a Contagious Christian“, which are both by bestselling Christian author Bill Hybels.

If you are studying evangelism in depth, there are great Christian Resources, and more specifically academic evangelism resources as well.  Regardless of where your evangelism takes place, please be sure to visit our Evangelism and Missions Store.

Do you have any personal mission trip stories to tell?  Even if they are simply someone you met at a restaraunt, evangelism takes place when the word of God is spread!

I really believe in Christian healing. What I don’t believe is ‘experience’ healing where women cry profusely and claim to feel the ‘spirit’ on them.

But then that is just one opinion.

I know that God can heal anyone of anything. I just don’t believe that we control who He is healing. That’s why I have a hard time with tv shows where preachers heal any member of the audience they pick out. Just doesn’t seem like our Lord would be so “showy”. But yeah, that’s just my opinion too.

Those mission trips sound super cool. I’ve never been on one either but my mother in law has. Hers is primarily medially focused though, rather than spiritually. (she’s a nurse) But there is always an opportunity no matter where you are to witness for the Lord!

That’s amazing about God healing that man’s spine! That’s the stuff I can believe in. Not showy but simply acting on an impulse from the Lord and by faith praying for healing of a saint! How aweseome to witness such a thing!

There is a story in the bible that tells a story when Jesus healed one individual with a shriveled hand and was made well. I have no doubt in my mind the Lord can still heal today if we really believe on him to be able.
