Thousands of Bible Studies…how to Choose?

It seems like there only used to be the Bible, when you wanted to create a Sunday School lesson for children and adults.  Now, there are so many adult Bible studies that it can make some people lose their mind.  How can you choose a small group bible study or sunday school curriculum that fits your needs?  From DVDs, to leader’s guides, participant guides, study guides, powerpoint CDs, visual aids, and countless other parts to many programs, it can seem overwhelming.

The truth is, there are so many Adult Bible Studies out there because there are just so many different topics that can benefit from Christian small group discussions.  In addition, the church small group curriculum helps participant’s sort out their own questions…something that people don’t often have the time or insight to do on their own.  Some of my favorite publishers for Small Group Curriculum and Adult Bible studies, are Zondervan publishing group, Thomas Nelson, Intervarsity Press, Navpress Publishing House, David C. Cook, and Broadman and Holman.  Now this is just a small sampling of the publishers that come out with some type of adult Bible study, but these are some of the biggest.

Through these publishers, you can find the perfect small group curriculum for your sunday school class.  From Christian parenting small groups, Christian living small groups, Evangelism small group curriculum, recovery bible studies, and beyond, there are just so many choices.  Beyond the actual content of the adult Bible study, there are many options in regards to how it is presented.  There are interactive DVD-based small group curriculums, audio, and simple book based small group curriculum.  Often, these come with some sort of leader’s guides and participant’s guides.  It really all just depends on your specific needs and the mix of people that you have in your small group Bible Study.

Now I know that this posting isn’t really too informative, but it is really hard to get a grasp on everything that is out there.  I mainly would love to hear from everybody else, which adult Bible studies that they have used in the past for Sunday school or other Church small group meetings?

    We did a Fruit of the Spirit study hosted by Beth Moore at one of my old churches. I’m telling you, that was the most intense thing, it was awesome. God really has taught us how to live AND how to be happy! He has equipped us with everything we need to succeed.

    Well it matters what kind of doctrines these bible studies or sermons put out. If we forget the truth and fact about pre-destination of the elect of God, or we preach the rapture, or we start talking about how

    man is truly ‘good’. Then we know we are in the wrong bible study and we are wasting our time and whatever it is costing me to get into those DVD’s.

    If we start talking about the ‘God’ in you or the power in you then again you should go off or turn off the movie player. The truth is so vital for christian growth.

    Some bible studies are catered to bring as many ‘sales’ and incomers from all direction with having a strick dicipline on telling the truth of God without adding or taking from it.

    You should be wary of which devotioal we taking to study each day if we have one. God says to get the truth and sell it not. But then it all matters to personal matters how faithful one decides to stay in

    boundaries of the truth. May you have a good day. Amen.

    I suppose the best bible study I’ve ever been taught from was called, Operation Go.
    We learned how & why to win others to Christ.
    I was a baby christian at the time & it helped me to harness & properly use that zeal for the Lord.

    I personally use inductive bible study guide from Inter varsity. It is quite useful for personal bible study or small groups.
