Family Guy mocks, belittles and distorts Jesus, please send your emails to advertisers
Dear Dads,

OneMillionDads.com is joining our friends at Florida Family Association to expose the anti-Christian bigotry of FOX network and its supporting advertisers.

The Sunday, August 16, 2009, 9:00 PM EDST episode of Family Guy entitled “I Dream of Jesus:”

• Mocked His crucifixion and resurrection when Peter compared Jesus’ sacrifice to the trials he experienced one night that he and his buddies got very drunk.
• Belittled Judas’ betrayal of Jesus when the Jesus character joked about it.
• Mocked the importance of the miracles Jesus performed when the character Jesus tripled the breast size of Peter’s wife.
• Represented that the bible is not important to Jesus when the character Jesus asked “What Word?” after Peter said “You’ve returned to bring us the Good Word.”
• Portrayed Jesus as a liar for denying who he was three times, out of touch for not interacting with people and a wimp for not knowing His calling.
• Compared Jesus revealing Himself to man to Chris exposing himself in school.

A transcript of the above scenes and much more mocking content are provided here.

I agree that family guy does mock Jesus and it does offend me deeply, but as Christians we have to ask ourselves by taking action and writing letters and emails to these people, are we doing any good or are we just making christains look closed minded and ignorant? by most of the American public, we are viewed that way so wouldn’t it be a much better alternative to just pray for the people writing these jokes and ask god to put a weight on their hearts? As Christians we should beleive very strongly in the power of prayer, I’ve seen it work ten to one over trying to change things myself. Also it’s much easier to reach somone with love and understanding rather than through force. Finaly, the people writing these jokes obviously aren’t Christians so we shouldn’t even try to hold them to the same moral standards as ourselves.

While you do make an interesting point, I think it would be more Christ-like to do BOTH. Jesus never commanded us to just let people walk all over us, although He did say to turn the other cheek. I think that means more like not getting ugly with them because they were ugly first. We shouldn’t act like them but rather make our voices heard, say our prayers for their hearts and then let God take care of the rest. He did say to speak the truth in love. So lets speak it and let them know we are still here and don’t have our heads buried in the sand. Onemilliondads.com sends emails to the people who pay to advertise during these things and has had MUCH success in getting contributors to pull out of sponsering raunchy programming. Hey, it works, so lets keep working for the Lord and for family!
