A Tale of Two Sons by John MacArthur (Book Review)

John MacArthur releases a new book about the greatest and most-loved parable of all time based on Luke 15. This renowned Bible teacher in our generation shares on Jesus’ most extreme fiction story ever invented portraying the lavishness of God’s grace on the two sons.

Like a wordsmith, John comprehensively exposed the character of the ultimate sinner (younger son), the forgiving father (God in the person of Jesus Christ) and the hypocrisy of the so-called Pharisees (elder son) with a backdrop of Middle Eastern culture of shame and honor. He emphasized the utter wretchedness of the older son’s legalistic yet wicked heart that rejects the gospel of grace. John has in mind the title “The Joy of God” or “The Forgiving God” as he writes this book because of God’s joy over a repentant sinner who returns back to his loving Father.

John concluded with a shocking, horrible, and tragic ending of the story not explicitly mentioned in the end of the parable but holds true in the Scriptures. This story has been re-told hundreds of times but John’s book version captures its original context and touches the hearts of its readers.

This book, along with a study guide, church kit, and audio Cd are perfect evangelistic resources for Christians and non-Christians.

A Tale of Two Sons is available in CBB Christian Bookstore.
