God’s Pursuit of Man by A. W. Tozer (Book Review)
Two years after the publication of The Pursuit of God, A.W. Tozer authored a prequel entitled The Divine Conquest and The Pursuit of Man. WingSpread Publishers released it as God’s Pursuit of Man clearly capturing the author’s original intent in writing the book.
Aiden Wilson Tozer preferred to be known as A. W. Tozer (1897-1963). His conversion to Christianity transpired when he overheard a street preacher saying, “If you don’t know how to be saved. . . just call on God!” He followed what he heard and became a believer himself.
A. W. Tozer is an American Christian preacher, pastor, magazine editor, author, conference speaker, and spiritual mentor. His works are still in print and over 60 books are widely circulated across the globe.
God’s Pursuit of Man’s thesis is that God first and foremost pursues man even before man pursues Him. A. W. Tozer discusses God’s longing for man’s salvation and His initiative to redeem his soul. A. W. Tozer emphasized the importance of the Holy Spirit to understand the Trinity. God’s Pursuit of Man is a short book comprising of ten chapters but contains deep spiritual insights that if followed will usher you into a real and intimate relationship with God. A. W. Tozer’s works are meant to be read again and again until your spirit is nourished and revived by its revelations. It is strongly recommended to use this Christian book in your daily quiet and devotion time. Tozer’s writings are the overflow of his meditation and prayer times. To quote from God’s Pursuit of Man, “The man who would know God must give time to Him.”
